Our latest OFSTED inspection took place on March 6th and 7th 2024.
Inspectors found:

This rural village school is at the heart of the community. It is a warm and welcoming place. Pupils value the wealth of experiences that this small school offers. Staff build positive relationships with parents and carers. This creates a supportive atmosphere where pupils achieve well.

The school curriculum is underpinned by the teaching of important life skills. Pupils are extremely well prepared to be active citizens in modern Britain'. Pupils are articulate. They share their views confidently. Pupils believe school gives them ’freedom to fly by readying them for life beyond school.
- Personal development is outstanding.

The school has developed a well sequenced curriculum. This is carefully planned to take account of mixed year group classes. The knowledge that pupils need to learn is clearly identified. Pupils connect their knowledge in meaningful ways. (This was an area for development in our previous inspection in 2023)

Staff give pupils the opportunity to have a positive influence on school life ... and they have the opportunity to build excellent life skills.

The school has deliberately woven key messages that their pupils need to learn throughout the curriculum. Pupils learn how to keep themselves and others safe, including online. Pupils knowledgeably discuss other cultures and countries. They see life through the eyes of people suffering discrimination. Pupils work diligently within the local community.

Staff value working with colleagues in the federation . They feel supported with their workload and well being. Leaders know their school well. They provide effective support and challenge.

Our previous OFSTED inspection took place in January 2023. HMI inspectors found ......
- Pupils are happy and love learning at this nurturing school.
- Inspectors experienced the strong and caring ethos that permeates the school.
- Leaders and teachers know their pupils very well. They are determined that each child’s journey through school will excite and engage them.
- The staff team works hard to ensure that this school is filled with both learning and laughter.
- Children in the early years settle quickly and live up to the high expectations of their teachers. They relish learning and work well together for sustained periods.
- Leaders have prioritised reading. Pupils do well in reading. The new curriculum plans in English and mathematics are helping teachers to plan and deliver lessons that enable them to teach subject content in a clear, well considered sequence. This has helped pupils to remember what they are taught.
- Leaders provide pupils with a range of activities, which include a varied menu of inter-school sports
opportunities, singing with a vast choir of children from the region and staying away from
home on school trips.
- Leaders have increasingly high expectations for all pupils, including pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities and those who are disadvantaged.
- Adults delight in working in this small village school and within the federation of two
schools. Governors continue to be instrumental in moving the federation forward. Their
passion and commitment to the school is tangible.
